Founder of Fo Guang Shan and a lifelong advocate of Humanistic Buddhism — a practice carried out in daily life, among people, rather than apart from them.
Both temples are open daily to visitors. Hours vary by season and on festival days — check the temple page before you travel.
Comfortable, modest clothing is appreciated in the shrine halls. There is no dress code, and no prior Buddhist background is expected.
Auckland is at 16 Stancombe Rd, Flat Bush. Christchurch is at 2 Harakeke St, Riccarton. Both have on-site parking.
